The conservatives are having a field day distorting these words and accusing Boxer of attacking Rice because she was childless. White House spokesmodel, Tony Snow said that Boxer had made a "giant leap backward for feminism". (what does he know about feminsim?).
The New York Post called the comments a LOW BLOW. They said Breathtaking. Simply breathtaking. We scarcely know where to begin. The junior senator from California apparently believes that an accomplished, seasoned diplomat, a renowned scholar and an adviser to two presidents like Condoleezza Rice is not fully qualified to make policy at the highest levels of the American government because she is a single, childless woman. It is sad that this administration and many others have to twist the Senator’s words to find their brand of truth. How sad that they disregard her words about sacrifice which allows them to avoid dealing with our own. If they were offended, perhaps they should try to understand why. God bless your group!...and all of the brave reporters who also died (some killed by the US)trying to tell us the truth and preserve our liberties. Without freedom of speach and press, these horrors will keep happening. Nov. 7th brought a new opportunity to stop the war and show Iraq, Palestine (and even Iran/ Syria which have been demonized by the US)and the rest of the world that we want peace for all. We have to go back to the time when the world saw the US as a model to emulate. If we don't turn around now, the world will look on all of us as neo-cons looking for any opportunity to kill others in order to take whatever we want when we choose.

You know they must be looking for some prominent person who supports the escalation who has lost a close relative in the war. It's interesting that the Administration is having such a hard time finding one to come forward.
